Children’s Voices

This 5 year  project is being funded The National Lottery Community Fund.
This programme will see the children using their voices to create training videos for professionals.
Having spoken for our children for many years it is now time to give them their own voice. They will have responsibility for running this project their way, with support from staff. They will meet with professionals to find out what their needs are, they will create questionnaires for the professionals, and the information learned from these will help them create the “scripts” for their videos. They will then go on to film scenarios for the videos. These training videos will then be presented, by the children, to various professionals (doctors, police, teachers, paramedics, etc) as training tools which should improve the children’s experience should they come into contact with any of these services.

The parent/carers workshops will explore the issues related to living with a child with ADHD, taking back control, family values and problem solving.
The children’s workshops will follow the same themes as the adult but will be child focused and will include: social skills, making informed choices, peer relationships, social media and understanding and learning to manage their ADHD “Monster”.

To achieve the best results you and your child/children must attend all the workshops.

Below are a few quotes from parent/carers who have completed the “Monster Inside” parent/child training programme.

“I feel more in control”
“I understand my son’s feelings now”
“I am happier and my family is more calmer and we feel like a family unit now”
“Keeping to the rules and following things through, I have learnt to talk less, think about what I say and I listen to my son”
